This past weekend we had an open day and welcomed many people to the Wood Store to enjoy music, activities and discounts.
One of our carpenters, Paolo, was busy running our ever popular box-making workshops, where children and adults can learn basic skills and make their own small box to take home. All made out of reclaimed timber, of course.
We were also joined by musicians Peter Long on the Jazz guitar and some members of the Front Room Folk - who are a group of people who meet up every Sunday evening to play Irish jigs at the Chimney House pub. Their cheerful tunes were very much enjoyed and appreciated.
We also ran a Trees and Wood Recycling quiz; aimed at children but some adults also had a go. Our quiz was a fun and informative few questions which encouraged people to learn about trees and think about how wood is used in the building industries, where we get it from and how we reuse it. We want to encourage learning in this area so it was great to see so many people enjoying the experience.
As well as events at the Wood Store the Field House complex, which we are part of, also had their open day and there was lots going on. It was a great day out for everyone, so do make sure you follow us on Facebook to make sure you don't miss the next one.
We will look forward to our next open day in August!
